My research investigates how perceptual and language processes interact, particularly in relation to learning and memory. My PhD thesis examined perceptual learning of unfamiliar speech and the contribution of individual differences in cognition and visual processing. My post-doctoral research has focused on perceptual simulations in reading comprehension and conceptual processing. I currently work on an ESRC grant examining the role of language and sensorimotor representations in complex cognition, for example working memory of actions and semantic categorisation.
I use a variety of experimental psychology and psycholinguistic methods, as well as eye-tracking and neuroimaging (EEG, fMRI).
