Why did you choose to study at LUMS?

Out of all the partner institutions Brock (my home university) had for the Double Degree International Business Programme, Lancaster was the newest. I had always wanted to travel and experience life in the UK and Lancaster seemed like the opportunity to do so!

What was the best thing about your course?

All of the people that I met. The double degree programme is full of international students from a variety of backgrounds and the relatively small programme size gave me a real sense of community. Being a part of this programme has opened up many opportunities I likely would not have got with another programme, and allowed me the experience of studying in my home country, Canada, while also experiencing what it is like to study and live in the UK.

Did you do a project, placement or study abroad? What did this involve and what did you gain?

The placement I did provided me with the opportunity to form connections with a variety of people in the automotive industry while also gaining real-world experience, which is something I highly recommend to all students. It gave me an opportunity to begin exploring the job market and seeing the fields that interested me.

Studying abroad has also been an amazing experience. I have met so many people and experienced many new cultures. Coming from North America, it is very difficult to travel to new countries, however, being in the UK (and so far from home), I've been able to experience so many new cultures and experiences.

Describe your time at LUMS in three words.

Enriching, Memorable, and Challenging.

What are your best memories of your time at Lancaster?

All of my best memories surrounding my time at Lancaster include spending time with my friends. Whether that be group study sessions in the Library, meeting up and having a chat at Costa, or going for walks around campus. Lancaster allowed me the opportunity to meet so many amazing people.

What are the best things about living in the Lancaster area?

Funny enough, how easy it is to travel around from here. Manchester and Liverpool are both very close by train, which makes them perfect places for day trips with friends. It's incredibly easy to get to Manchester Airport and travel somewhere else for a short trip.

London is only a 3-hour train ride (one I've made frequently when I need to go home to Canada). Morecambe is a short bus ride, and the Lake District is easily accessible by bus or train. Lancaster itself is also nice to walk around, especially down by the canal.
