Why did you choose to study at LUMS?

I chose LUMS because of its high rankings in the UK as well as globally. When I attended the virtual open day, the student ambassadors were sharing how happy they were with their course and how flexible their degree is. Also, the campus looked really wonderful, so for me it was a no-brainer!

What was the best thing about your course?

The flexibility of the course has been incredibly valuable, allowing me to explore a wide range of business modules. This helped me build a strong and well-rounded understanding of the subject, identify my key areas of interest, and ultimately specialise in those areas during the final year of my degree.

Did you do a project, placement or study abroad? What did this involve and what did you gain?

I did a Brand Marketing placement at Kenvue, working with the Nicorette Professional and Nordics teams. This involved managing multi-channel marketing campaigns, analysing sales and digital performance data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimise strategies. The experience allowed me to develop commercial awareness, project management skills, and a strong understanding of FMCG marketing. It was a valuable opportunity to apply my academic learning in a real-world setting and gain confidence working in a fast-paced, global organisation.

Describe your time at LUMS in three words.

Challenging, Rewarding and Insightful.

What are the best things about living in the Lancaster area?

How safe you feel. Campus is quite secure and town is only 10-15 minutes away on the bus. There is always a lot to do such as enjoying the views at Williamson Park, or even heading into town for a night out with friends.

Which parts of your Lancaster experience were the best preparation for your job?

The combination of academic and practical experiences at Lancaster has been excellent preparation for my role in Digital Sales at Henkel. Studying Business Management allowed me to explore a wide range of modules, but I found particular value in those focused on marketing strategy, consumer behaviour, and digital analytics.

My placement year at Kenvue gave me first-hand experience executing digital campaigns, working with cross-functional teams, and using performance data to shape decisions – all of which are crucial in a digital sales environment. Group projects and presentations throughout my degree also helped me develop strong communication and commercial thinking skills, which I know will be vital at Henkel.
