Why did you choose to study at LUMS?

One of my classmates studied here and only had incredible things to say – especially about the support he received from the careers team.

Who inspired you most at LUMS and why?

My friends probably inspired me the most. Seeing them work hard and achieve their dreams also motivated me.

Did you do a project, placement or study abroad? What did this involve and what did you gain?

I was the leader of a dissertation project whereby my team and I were consultants for a local firm in Lancaster and provided solutions to their operational and marketing issues.

Describe your time at LUMS in three words.

Inclusive. Happy. Motivational.

What are your best memories of your time at Lancaster?

My best memory of LUMS was during my dissertation when my teammates and I spent endless nights in the library. It was just us and we had a lot of fun.

What are the best things about living in the Lancaster area?

It’s extremely safe and green. I felt my healthiest living here. There are beautiful sights just within walking distance. Next to my house, there was the main canal where every summer, swans and their babies visit and it’s so beautiful.

Which parts of your Lancaster experience were the best preparation for your job?

The best resources that Lancaster gave me for my job preparation were the Employment & Recruitment Service (ERS) temporary vacancies. I mention this to every incoming student because it's a fantastic resource. Not only do you get proper management experience, but you get to do it in a safe and familiar place. Moreover, you also get paid really well for it! Those jobs I did are the reason why employers took me seriously.

What impact has your Lancaster experience had on your career?

It’s been incredible. It wasn’t the easiest thing and I had to put in a lot of effort from my end, but the support I received from LUMS was so great. I can still access the support even after graduating, which makes me feel a lot safer and well cared for.

Is there anything else about your LUMS experience that you'd like to share with us?

What’s also unique and wonderful about Lancaster University is that it’s a separate campus from the city. This is important because you actually feel like you’re going to uni and experiencing the student life. There are 100s of societies and so much to do – not to mention that the university is single-handedly the most beautiful campus ever.
