Why did you choose to study at LUMS?

I chose LUMS because it had the perfect balance of strong academics and a really welcoming environment. As an international student from India, I felt supported right from the start, and the scholarship they offered made a big difference. I was also drawn to the practical, hands-on style of the programme. Altogether, it just felt like the right place for me to grow and succeed.

What was the best thing about your course?

The best thing about my course was how friendly and supportive the professors were. The classes were always very interactive, and we were encouraged to discuss, ask questions, and really get involved. The projects felt very real, we actually stepped into the role of project management staff and worked as if we were handling real projects. I also loved the exposure we got by working with classmates from different countries. Sharing our cultures and experiences made the learning even richer. By the end of the course, I genuinely felt like a professional ready to step into the industry.

Did you do a project, placement or study abroad? What did this involve and what did you gain?

Yes, I did a company project as part of my dissertation. We had the option to choose between a research project or a real company project, and I chose the company project because I wanted hands-on experience. Our group had three members, and we worked directly with the company, spoke with their stakeholders, and handled the project just like a real project management team. We even received real feedback from them, which made the experience even more valuable. It felt like working in an actual professional environment, and I learned a lot about communication, teamwork, and dealing with real project challenges.

Describe your time at LUMS in three words.

Growth, Challenging, Inspiring.

What are your best memories of your time at Lancaster?

My best memories are simply living in Lancaster. It’s a beautiful small city, and everyone was so friendly. As an international student from India, it was my first time studying abroad, and I felt very welcomed. I loved the social events, cultural gatherings, and meet-ups on campus. I made friends from different countries and had many moments that made my time there really special.

What are the best things about living in the Lancaster area?

The best thing about living in Lancaster is how calm and peaceful it is. It’s not a big, busy city like Manchester or London, it’s much more relaxed and manageable. The nature around the area is beautiful, the air feels clean, and the whole environment is very refreshing. You can find everything you need, but without the noise and rush. It’s a really comfortable place to live and study.

Which parts of your Lancaster experience were the best preparation for your job?

The exposure I got at Lancaster was the best preparation for my job. Everything I learned in my Master’s, especially the practical projects and the way we worked like real project managers, helped me a lot. Talking with my professors and getting their guidance also gave me confidence. Even meeting people from different backgrounds throughout my time there helped me understand how to work with different teams, which I use every day in my job.

What impact has your Lancaster experience had on your career?

Lancaster gave me the practical skills, confidence, and exposure I needed to start my career. It prepared me really well for my role as a Project Manager.
