Why did you choose to undertake your PhD at LUMS?
I chose LUMS because of the expertise and professional reputation of the staff in the Department of Organisation, Work and Technology.
What was the focus of your doctoral research?
My doctoral research explored the emotional management strategies of paid carers using ethnographic methods.
Describe your time at LUMS in three words.
Inspiring, Informative, Innovative.
What impact did scholarships or funding have on your degree experience?
I would not have been able to achieve my goal of gaining a PhD without the financial support provided by departmental funding and then an ESRC doctoral fellowship.
Which parts of your Lancaster experience were the best preparation for your job?
My job involves communicating often quite complex information to varied audiences, which is supported by the training and opportunities to present research I experienced as part of my PGR experience.
