Why did you choose to study at LUMS?

I chose to study at LUMS through Clearing. When I was ringing around universities, Lancaster was lovely and guiding over the phone, and the course options were brilliant. They had a great game theory and behavioural economics module selection which is what I was most interested in within economics.

What/who inspired you most at LUMS and why?

My lecturer Chris Ford, who taught Professional Ethics, was amazing. His lectures were engaging and the coursework we had to do made me delve deeper into an actual real world issue, and form my own opinion on it. He had a similar career path to which I myself want to do, which was really inspirational to see.

I would also like to give a special mention to Paul McCormick, without whom I would have never known about spring weeks, which jump-started my career progression through internships and then receiving two graduate offers from top global firms.

Did you do a project, placement or study abroad? What did this involve and what did you gain?

During the summer of second year, I had the privilege to do a 10-week internship at Morgan Stanley, working in their internal audit team in Canary Wharf. I learnt so much about the business world and what I wanted my future to look like. Also, I made some amazing connections, from Lancaster alumni who worked there already, to COOs who I met through pride events.

My time there taught me exactly what division I wanted to work in, guided by meeting with a former Lancaster student who worked in that division. I also gained a graduate offer, which took a lot of pressure off my third year.

Describe your time at LUMS in three words.

Best Decision Ever.

What are your best memories of your time at Lancaster?

My best memories are from the time I spent playing rugby for LUWRUFC. I have made friends for life and it has given me a large group of people I can rely on, whether that is going to grab milkshakes or revising in the library.

What are the best things about living in the Lancaster area?

There is always someone to do things with. Because everyone shops at the same shops and lives very near each other, you are bound to bump into people you know. Everyone intermingles and you gain friends between courses, year groups, and colleges.

Is there anything else about your LUMS experience that you'd like to share with us?

I have loved working as a student ambassador for LUMS. It has given me the ability to make more friends in my department, and get paid to chat to some amazing people.
