Why did you choose to study at LUMS?

When I was deciding where to study, I wasn't just looking for a university where I could earn a degree—I wanted a place that would challenge me, help me grow as a person, and prepare me for life beyond graduation. LUMS stood out because it offered that balance of academic learning, career support, and a genuine sense of community. Looking back, what made my experience special wasn't just the lectures or assignments, but the opportunities and the people behind them. Through events such as the Consulting Case Competition and other careers and employer engagement sessions, I was able to develop practical skills, gain confidence, and better understand the professional world. Those experiences pushed me outside my comfort zone and gave me valuable insight into the recruitment process and the expectations of graduate employers. Alongside that, my lecturers encouraged me to think critically, my peers constantly inspired me to aim higher, and the Careers Team provided guidance and encouragement throughout my graduate recruitment journey. Their support played an important role in helping me secure a Graduate Analyst role with Accenture, beginning in April 2027. Choosing LUMS turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made. It gave me confidence, experiences, and relationships that I know will stay with me long after graduation.

What was the best thing about your course?

The best thing about my course was how naturally it combined technology and business—two areas I've always been interested in. I've always been curious about how technology can transform the way organisations operate, but I've also enjoyed understanding the strategic thinking behind business decisions. Being able to explore both together made every module feel relevant and engaging. I also appreciated how the course encouraged us to look beyond the theory. Whether it was working on group projects, tackling real-world case studies, or discussing current industry trends, I was constantly challenged to think critically, collaborate with others, and approach problems from different perspectives. Most importantly, the course helped me develop a way of thinking rather than just teaching me technical knowledge. It taught me to be curious, adaptable, and open to different ideas—qualities that I know will stay with me throughout my career.

What/who inspired you most at LUMS and why?

What inspired me most at LUMS was the people and the overall environment. Coming into LUMS, I genuinely felt a difference in the level of ambition and drive among students compared to what I had seen elsewhere. There was a shared mindset of wanting to do well, push further, and make the most of every opportunity. My lecturers also played a big role in this. They were approachable and genuinely invested in our development, often encouraging us to think critically and aim higher rather than just focus on grades. Alongside this, the Careers Team and various university events created a very active and opportunity-driven environment. Whether it was careers workshops or competitions, there was always something that pushed you to step out of your comfort zone. Overall, it was this combination of ambitious peers, supportive staff, and a strong culture of opportunity that inspired me most.

Did you do a project, placement or study abroad? What did this involve and what did you gain?

I completed a placement at Intel, which was one of the highlights of my degree. It gave me the chance to experience life in a global technology company and apply what I'd been learning at university in a real-world setting. Beyond developing my technical and professional skills, the placement helped me build confidence, work with people from different backgrounds, and gain a much clearer understanding of how technology and business come together. It also confirmed that this was the kind of career I wanted to pursue.

Describe your time at LUMS in three words.

Ambitious, Supportive, Unforgettable

What are your best memories of your time at Lancaster?

Some of my best memories from Lancaster are more about the campus itself and the time spent there outside of lectures. Bailrigg House and the Architecture buildings were one of my favourite hangout spots. It was always a nice place to sit, talk with friends, and take a break from everything else going on. Beyond that, I’ll remember the everyday moments on campus most: meeting people between classes, long conversations, and just the general atmosphere of being there. It’s those simple, unplanned moments that really stand out when I look back at my time at Lancaster.

What are the best things about living in the Lancaster area?
The best things about living in the Lancaster area are how calm, peaceful, and safe it feels. It’s a place with very few distractions, which makes it easy to focus and enjoy a slower pace of life. I also liked the small cafés and local spots that give it a cosy feel, and how affordable everything is compared to bigger cities. On top of that, being so close to the Lake District and Morecambe makes it great for quick day trips when you want a change of scenery.

What impact did scholarships or funding have on your degree experience?

Receiving the Lancaster Global Scholarship for two years made a meaningful difference to my degree experience. It eased the financial pressure and allowed me to focus more on my studies and take full advantage of opportunities at university without as many worries about costs. Beyond the financial support, it also gave me a sense of recognition and motivation to make the most of my time at Lancaster and perform to the best of my ability.

Which parts of your Lancaster experience were the best preparation for your job?

The most valuable preparation came from the mix of academic work and practical opportunities throughout my time at Lancaster. Group projects and case-based assignments helped me develop problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills, especially when working under time pressure and having to present clear ideas. Events like the Consulting Case Competition and careers workshops were also really useful, as they gave me a clearer understanding of how to approach real business problems and what employers look for. On top of that, my placement experience helped me build confidence in a professional environment and understand how technology and business come together in practice. Overall, it was this combination of academic challenge and real-world exposure that prepared me most for my next steps.

What impact has your Lancaster experience had on your career?

My Lancaster experience has had a big impact on my career by helping me develop both the mindset and skills needed to step into a professional environment with confidence. The combination of academic learning and practical opportunities pushed me to think more critically, work better in teams, and communicate ideas more clearly.
