Why did you choose to study at LUMS?

I chose to study at LUMS because I was drawn to the unique joint degree in Management and Computer Science. I liked the opportunity to combine business with technology, developing both analytical and strategic thinking. The interdisciplinary nature of the programme has given me a broad skill set and the flexibility to explore different career paths while gaining a deeper understanding of how technology and management work together in today's world.

What was the best thing about your course?

The best thing about my course was its interdisciplinary nature. Combining Management and Computer Science allowed me to build both valuable technical skills and strong business knowledge. It also developed my analytical and problem-solving abilities, teaching me how to approach challenges from both a technical and strategic perspective. I really appreciated graduating with a versatile skill set that is highly relevant across a wide range of industries.

What/who inspired you most at LUMS and why?

Adam Hindle inspired me the most during my time at LUMS. I really enjoyed the way he designed his Negotiation course, particularly the use of interactive simulations and games rather than a traditional essay or written exam. It made the learning experience much more engaging and helped me develop practical negotiation skills in a realistic setting. I also appreciated how approachable and communicative he was, regularly keeping us updated by email and creating a supportive learning environment.

Did you do a project, placement or study abroad? What did this involve and what did you gain?

In the summer of my first year, I completed a summer school at Kozminski University in Warsaw, Poland, where I studied Financial Strategy and Data Visualisation. It was a fantastic opportunity to experience a different academic environment, collaborate with students from around the world, and strengthen my analytical and presentation skills. It also broadened my international perspective and gave me valuable insight into applying data to business and financial decision-making.

Describe your time at LUMS in three words.

Memorable, Challenging, Rewarding

What are your best memories of your time at Lancaster?

One of my best memories at Lancaster was founding the Diplomacy Society with one of my closest friends and watching it grow over the years into a thriving community. Seeing students engage with our events, hosting inspiring guest speakers, and leaving behind something that will continue after we've graduated has been incredibly rewarding. Alongside that, representing the university as a Student Ambassador and taking part in international opportunities, such as my summer school in Poland, made my time at Lancaster both memorable and fulfilling.

What are the best things about living in the Lancaster area?

One of the best things about living in Lancaster is its strong sense of community. It's a welcoming, friendly city that quickly feels like home. It's also very affordable compared to many other UK cities, and almost everything—from campus to the town centre, cafés and shops—is within walking distance, making day-to-day life both convenient and enjoyable.

Which parts of your Lancaster experience were the best preparation for your job?

Lancaster's Careers Service played a huge role in preparing me for my career. Throughout my degree, I received invaluable support with CV tailoring, interview preparation, and identifying internship opportunities. In particular, Paul McCormick was an incredible source of guidance, helping me strengthen my applications and encouraging me to pursue opportunities I might not have considered otherwise.

What impact has your Lancaster experience had on your career?

My Lancaster experience gave me the skills, confidence, and opportunities to secure competitive internships and build a strong foundation for my career.
