Why did you choose to study at LUMS?

I originally chose to study at Lancaster University Management School because of its outstanding reputation, the wide range of opportunities available to students, and the breadth of its Business Management degree. I wanted to study at a university where I could gain a strong understanding of all areas of business before deciding which field I wanted to pursue, and Lancaster offered exactly that. Throughout my undergraduate degree, I had an incredibly positive experience with both the quality of teaching and the supportive learning environment. My lecturers encouraged me to explore different areas of business, and modules such as Advertising and Social Media Marketing helped me discover a real passion for digital marketing. Choosing to continue my studies at Lancaster University Management School for my MSc in Digital and Social Media Marketing felt like a natural next step. I knew I wanted to continue learning in an environment where I already felt challenged, supported and inspired. The course aligns perfectly with my career aspirations and will allow me to build on the knowledge and practical skills I developed during my undergraduate degree.

What was the best thing about your course?

One of the best aspects of my undergraduate course was the opportunity to explore a wide range of business disciplines before specialising. Studying subjects such as marketing, accounting, economics, and entrepreneurship gave me a well-rounded understanding of how businesses operate. It was through modules like Advertising and Social Media Marketing that I discovered my passion for digital marketing, which ultimately inspired me to pursue my MSc in Digital and Social Media Marketing.

What/who inspired you most at LUMS and why?

My biggest inspiration at Lancaster University Management School was my Advertising lecturer, Hayley Cocker. Her enthusiasm for the subject was infectious, and she brought advertising and consumer behaviour to life through engaging lectures and real-world examples. She encouraged us to think creatively while applying theory to practical challenges, which made me realise how much I enjoyed the strategic and creative side of marketing. Her teaching played a significant role in inspiring my passion for digital marketing and ultimately influenced my decision to continue my studies.

Describe your time at LUMS in three words.

Supportive, inspiring and rewarding

My best memories at Lancaster University Management School are a combination of the experiences I had both academically and socially. On my course, I particularly enjoyed the Advertising and Social Media Marketing modules, as they sparked my passion for digital marketing and challenged me to think creatively. Outside of my studies, being part of the University Tennis Team has been one of the highlights of my time at Lancaster. From training and competing to social events and forming lifelong friendships, it gave me a real sense of community and made my university experience incredibly rewarding. The balance between academic opportunities and an active student life is something I'll always value, and I'm looking forward to building on both next year as I begin my MSc in Digital and Social Media Marketing while continuing to be part of the University Tennis Team as Women's Captain.

What are the best things about living in the Lancaster area?

One of the best things about living in the Lancaster area is the strong sense of community. Despite being a university city, it has a welcoming and close-knit feel, where people quickly get to know each other and feel connected. The size of the city means that everything feels accessible, from the campus and city centre to local cafés, shops and parks. I’ve really enjoyed being part of a community where friendships extend beyond the university, and where there is always a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
