Why did you choose to study at LUMS?
LUMS is consistently ranked among the top business schools in the UK, and I was particularly attracted by its focus on combining academic theory with practical application.
Who inspired you most at LUMS and why?
One of the people who influenced me the most during my time at LUMS was our program director, Dr Zhu. I once approached him to ask for advice about my career choices. He listened carefully and gave me thoughtful guidance, which helped me see my options more clearly and gave me the confidence to make decisions for my future. His support not only shaped my career direction but also inspired me to be more proactive in seeking advice and learning from others.
Describe your time at LUMS in three words.
Transformative, Inspiring, Connected.
What are your best memories of your time at Lancaster?
When I finished a course cycle, I would go to the small bar in a nearby village, Galgate, with a few friends, order some chips and a beer, and chat with friends about interesting things that happened in the past period of time.
What are the best things about living in the Lancaster area?
People are very friendly.
Which parts of your Lancaster experience were the best preparation for your job?
The best preparation for my job came from three key aspects of my Lancaster experience: international perspective, strategic and critical thinking, business awareness and sensitivity.
What impact has your Lancaster experience had on your career?
It gave me clarity and direction. Through both the curriculum and the guidance of professors, I was able to identify a career path that truly matches my strengths and interests. Second, it strengthened my skill set. The emphasis on critical thinking, teamwork, and business awareness prepared me to handle complex challenges in the workplace with confidence.
Is there anything else about your LUMS experience that you'd like to share with us?
What I would like to share is the sense of community I experienced at LUMS. Beyond the lectures and coursework, it was the people – the professors, classmates, and friends – that made my year truly special. I am grateful not only for the knowledge I gained but also for the friendships that continue to this day. Those connections remind me that learning doesn’t end in the classroom – it is a lifelong journey we share with others. In many ways, this spirit of openness, collaboration, and support has stayed with me, and I carry it into my professional life as well.
