A day in the life of an Economics and Finance student
Posted on

Morning
On a typical day, I do my morning routine before heading off for my first lecture at 10:00 am. I live on campus so it’s not a long walk to get to any of my lectures or seminars. On this day my first lecture is from my Accounting and Finance module, so we talk about asset pricing as it’s the topic this week.
After my lecture I head off to the library to do the reading on this week's finance topic and prepare for my 2:00 pm seminar. I like studying in the library as it gives variety to my day and working in a study environment keeps me focused. I usually eat lunch in the library as it means I can save time rather than going back to my flat.
Afternoon
At 1:50 pm I set off for my seminar. I enjoy the seminars as they give me a chance to practice what I have been learning in the lectures and share my thoughts with others in my class. Preparing for the seminars allows me to see if there are any gaps in my knowledge, whilst enabling me to ask questions during the seminar to improve my understanding.
After the seminar, I head back to my flat and do some maths problems on Moodle for one of my Economics modules. I have an assignment each week and I can retake it as many times as I’d like before submission. I enjoy the Moodle assignments because they provide instant feedback on the questions so I can learn from my mistakes independently.
After this I have an early dinner because in the evening I have an underwater hockey fitness session. I do underwater hockey twice a week and had never done the sport before starting University. Societies are a great way to meet new people outside of your course.
Evening
In the evening when I return to my flat, I play card games with my flatmates and create a shopping list. I take the free Sainsbury’s bus on Wednesdays to get my shopping as it’s convenient and only takes 10 minutes as the bus is express.
