Jackie Arnold

Jackie Arnold MBE FCMA is a Non-Executive with Cumberland Building Society and Professor of Practice with the University of Cumbria. Jackie also supports BAE Systems in progressing the Social Purpose agenda.

At Cumberland Building Society, in addition to her role as Board Member, Jackie chairs the People, Remuneration and Culture Committee and is a member of the Audit Committee.

A Chartered Accountant by profession, Jackie has previously spent time in practice, public sector and private sector businesses and has held roles as Managing Director of a power generating company under US ownership and as Chief Accountant then subsequently Head of Strategy at BAE SYSTEMS. In this role, Jackie led the activity to establish the Social Purpose agenda at the Submarine yard in Barrow-in-Furness, ensuring the appropriate partnership working to support the community in creating the environment to allow the business to deliver its business plan and assure delivery of community benefits.

Jackie spent two years as a member of the Vice-Chancellor’s Executive at the University of Cumbria, establishing the University’s new Institute for Industrial Practice. Jackie led the work to ensure the offer of the University is aligned to the education and skills requirements of the businesses in Cumbria and the broader region and continues to support this activity in her position as Professor of Practice.

A passionate Cumbrian, Jackie was formerly the Vice Chair of Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership and a member of the North West Business Leadership Team in 2016 received her MBE in recognition of this work.

Jackie is a fervent sponsor of the diversity agenda and in 2018 was named on the Northern Power Women Top 50 Power List.
