New global sustainability ranking places Lancaster’s MBA among best in the world
Lancaster University’s Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) has been ranked for the first time in the Better World MBA Rankings, achieving a position of 35th in the world.
The 2025 ranking, published by Corporate Knights, aims to showcase the business schools that are equipping future leaders with the tools to tackle urgent social and environmental challenges.
Lancaster University Management School’s MBA features among 13 UK-based programmes that were assessed within a total of 179 MBA programs worldwide, drawn from leading global MBA listings, past Better World MBA honourees, and accredited institutions. All programmes were evaluated on both the sustainability depth of their core courses and the proportion of graduates working at impact organisations (non-profits, clean economy firms, or sustainability leaders).
Dr Mark Dawson, Director of Lancaster’s MBA programme, said: “It’s great to see our commitment to shaping responsible leaders who understand that business success and sustainability go hand in hand being reflected in this ranking.
“The Lancaster MBA equips students not only with strategic and analytical skills, but also with the mindset to lead purpose-driven organisations which make a tangible impact in the world.”
“The sustainable economy is expanding at twice the pace of the rest of the economy, and leading business schools are adapting accordingly,” said Toby Heaps, CEO of Corporate Knights. “Our 2025 Better World MBA ranking shows how programs can prepare graduates to thrive where sustainability is the growth engine.”
Lancaster University Management School’s flagship MBA programme is also ranked 13th in the UK and 44th in Europe in the QS Global Rankings 2026 and within Tier One of the CEO Magazine Global MBA Rankings 2025.
