17 March 2016
An academic from the Department of Entrepreneurship, Strategy and Innovation has been appointed Associate Editor of the European Management Journal.
Dr Ioannis Thanos, Senior Lecturer in Strategic Management, was recently appointed to the role in The European Management Journal (ISI impact factor:1.222), a generalist, highly-ranked journal covering all fields of management. The publication aims to present the latest thinking and research on major management topics in the form of articles that meet high academic quality standards, while still being accessible to non-specialists.
Dr Thanos will be handling submissions related to Business Strategy and Organisational theory. His research interests are in the areas of Strategic Decision Processes and Mergers and Acquisitions. By adopting both quantitative and qualitative approaches in his research, he explores how important strategic decisions are made and implemented within modern organisations.
He has published in a number of academic journals including the British Journal of Management, Journal of World Business, International Business Review and the Journal of Strategy and Management, as well as in edited volumes and books (e.g., Handbook of Decision Making, Wiley; Handbook of Mergers and Acquisitions, Oxford University Press; Advances in M&As, Emerald). He is the winner of the Journal of Strategy and Management 2015 outstanding paper award and has been nominated for a number of awards such as the Strategic Management Society best conference paper prize award.
Dr Thanos, who was previously a member of the editorial board of the EMJ, said: “I am absolutely delighted and honoured to have been appointed Associate Editor in such a highly ranked management journal. The EMJ has a long history of publishing high quality research and I feel committed to EMJ’s interdisciplinary approach.”
