FT's Gillian Tett receives honorary degree

US Managing Editor of the Financial Times Gillian Tett was among those to receive an honorary degree during last week's graduation ceremonies.
Gillian has established an enviable reputation as a commentator on financial markets and economics more generally.
In 2014, she was named Columnist of the Year in the British Press Awards. She is author of the books Saving the Sun (2003) and Fool’s Gold (2009). Gillian was also awarded the President’s Medal by the British Academy in 2011.
She was made an Honorary Doctor of Letters at the ceremony last Wednesday, after which she gave a talk at LUMS entitled "Fear, Loathing and Eurozone (economics)".
Other people to receive honorary degrees were Professor Dieter Bimberg – a leading figure in the field of semiconductor physics and nanoscience, biologist Professor Georgina Mace CBE FRS, particle physicist Professor Hugh Montgomery and biostatistician Professor Scott Zeger.
