Lancaster reunion at the British Embassy in Paris
16 December 2015
The British Embassy proved to be an impressive and welcoming venue for the latest Lancaster alumni reunion in Paris.
The 27 attendees, ranging from current students to graduates of over 40 years ago, enjoyed the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and to meet other Lancaster alumni living and working in Paris.
Elliot Shekell (BBA European Management alumnus) hosted the event at the Embassy on 7th December, along with Dr Alison Stowell, Lecturer at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS).
Elliot said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Lancaster University students, both past and present, to the British Embassy in Paris. The effort and dedication of both the alumni and the LUMS coordination team helped us to have a great networking event, where students from a wide range of years could share their experiences and advice. We’re already looking forward to organising the next one!”
Also attending and assisting with the event were three current Lancaster University students, Alexia Petricu, Celia Iordache and Veronika Wiesner, in Paris for the COP21 Climate Change Summit.
Reflecting on the event, Alexia and Veronika, wrote: “The event itself reflected the same diversity we live every day at Lancaster University. There were people with different academic backgrounds - Business Studies, European Management, Environmental Science, Philosophy and many others.
"On behalf of the current students, we must say how useful and enjoyable this event was. We did not only gain invaluable insight from someone who is pursuing the same career path we want to, but also we got even more inspired and motivated to keep believing in our career-related dreams. The alumni shared with us the feelings they had when they were students, and they were really reassuring and encouraging.
"The get-together of a wide range of personalities of different ages and in different jobs was for all of us a memorable night. Hence, on behalf of all attendees, we want to thank Elliot Shekell for hosting this alumni event at the British Embassy and both Lancaster University and Alison Stowell for sponsoring and arranging it.”
Our thanks to Floriane Blot, Lancaster University’s Alumni Coordinator in Paris, for assisting with the organisation and promotion of the reunion. Floriane was very sorry not to be able to attend the event, due to a last-minute work commitment, but looks forward to seeing alumni at the next event.
