Lancaster economist awarded notable Fellowship

A Lancaster economist has been recognised for her contributions to the discipline with a prestigious fellowship award.
Professor Lorenza Rossi, a Professor in Macroeconomics in Lancaster University Management School (LUMS), has been made a Founding Fellow by the Royal Economic Society (RES). She is one of 58 new Fellows rewarded by the RES for their work in economics.
Professor Rossi is recognised for her contributions to economic research and her commitment to the academic community. She joined LUMS in 2021 from the University of Pavia in Italy, having previously worked at the Catholic University of Milan. Her work focuses around macroeconomics, monetary economics and firm dynamics.
Professor Rossi said: “I am deeply honoured to have been named a Founding Fellow of the Royal Economic Society.
“I am grateful to the society for this distinction, which I share with the many colleagues and students who have inspired and supported my work over the years.”
RES President Professor Sir Christopher Pissarides, a Nobel Laureate who also chaired the judging panel, paid tribute to all those awarded Fellowships.
He said: “The panel was impressed by the depth and breadth of the applications it considered, with representation from academia, the public and private sectors and those working in schools.
“Through their applications, our new Fellows demonstrated the impact they have made not just in their roles, but to the wider economics profession. We congratulate them and look forward to working with them to advance the RES vision: that economics be understood, advanced and applied for the good of society and the world around us.”
