Team Lancaster make it to final of CFA Research Challenge

Finalists

A team of LUMS students have made it through to the final of the CFA Research Challenge UK 2018.

The team of five, Vladislav Glazov, Yusuf Inuwa, Saieswari Vedula, Tianqi Wang and Yike Zhang, will face off against three other teams at the final at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London on March 15th. The team includes undergraduate and postgraduate students, from a few different courses within Lancaster’s Accounting and Finance Department.

The other finalists are Exeter, Cranfield and ICMA Reading.

The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual, global competition that provides university students with mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis.

The team were mentored through the competition by Paul Bisping from Fitch Learning, who contribute widely to the Advanced Financial Analysis course.

Professor Steve Young from the Department of Accounting and Finance said: “The annual CFA Research Challenge is a high profile international event that tests students’ abilities to apply their financial valuation and analysis skills in a real-life scenario. The standards required by the CFA are very high and I’m always impressed by the quality and professionalism of reports produced by the finalists. LUMS has a proud record of making the final shortlist and I’m delighted we’re represented again. Congratulations to all team members and good luck for the big day!”

The winner of the UK final will go through to the Regional Finals in Dublin.
