Dr Jacqueline Kirk, Associate Professor of Sustainable Business, Nottingham Trent University will present in this OWT research seminar.

Jacqueline will be discussing her ongoing research and knowledge exchange project: Widening inclusion spaces for participation in the evolution of research on sustainability: creating communication pathways through artscience collaboration (WISPERS).

The project takes a step outside of Jacqueline’s immediate research interest (how people (individuals, organisations and institutions) justify and legitimate their actions when it comes to sustainability), to shine a light on the practice of ‘sustainability research’ in a society facing complex challenges that require collaboration in response. Recognising that scholarly work in sustainability is often siloed between disciplines and sometimes hidden behind the walls of the academy, WISPERS explores how arts-based interpretations of research findings can connect research to voices outside the academy including businesses, policy makers and the complex nuanced heterogeneous mix that is wider society. Exploring artscience integration at the point of dissemination of research ‘findings’, WISPERS finds a cyclical process between artscience and research can be established, with artscience contributing to ongoing knowledge production in multiple ways spanning through translation to interpretation and response.
