Leading consultant speaks to LUMS consulting students
Jon Andrews, former Executive Board Member of leading global consulting and audit firm PwC, delivered the PwC Annual Assaf Lennon Memorial Lecture to students on the MSc Consulting and MBA programmes at Lancaster University, enabling them to network and learn from one another.
Now in its tenth year, the lecture focused on the importance of differentiating oneself in the consulting marketplace and on how, when preparing presentations, consultants think about what they want their clients to hear, not what they want to say. Jon provided important insights, including that consultants must not fail fast but learn fast, not dwell on regrets, and that consultants are only as successful as the people who want to work with them.
About Asaf Lennon
Assaf Lennon studied for a BA in Economics at UCL and an MBA at and LBS, and worked for Accenture and PwC during a very successful consulting career. Sadly, Assaf was taken from us all too soon by cancer, aged just 45.
Passionate about numbers and high-quality analysis, Assaf was never backwards in coming forward when it came to challenging an assumption resting on evidence which he thought lacked veracity. A challenge from Assaf, however, was never abrupt. It was always offered with his characteristic broad smile and a wonderful combination of respect, integrity and vision. Assaf devoted a generous amount of time and resources to helping students at LUMS. Not only did he contribute lectures, he also found the time to offer talented students workplace experience opportunities during their vacations and sponsored many student team-based projects, often becoming actively involved in challenging and shaping students’ learning.
The Assaf Lennon Memorial Essay Prize
In Assaf’s memory, LUMS and PwC joined forces in 2015 to offer the annual Assaf Lennon Memorial Essay Prize. The prize is awarded to the student who submits the best assignment for the Introduction to Consulting module. The judging panel consists of Assaf’s father (a former journalist for the Financial Times), partners from his former team at PwC, and members of the Introduction to Consulting teaching team.
