Lancaster University Management School has honoured the SIME Steering Committee (Professor Radka Newton, Ellie Fowler, Dr Bea Rodriguez, Dr Harrison Rolls, Emma Watton and Rose White) with a Dean’s Award in recognition of its exceptional contribution to advancing pedagogic scholarship, strengthening teaching practice and fostering an inclusive academic community across the School.

The Committee, led by Centre Director Professor Newton, has played a pivotal role in shaping a vibrant and supportive environment for colleagues engaged in scholarship and innovation in management education.

Over the last two years, SIME has developed and expanded national and international networks that enhance opportunities for the LUMS teaching community, strengthening the School’s external profile and creating new avenues for collaboration.

It oversees the School’s peer‑reviewed SIME Journal, providing a safe and encouraging space for colleagues to develop their writing and share innovative practice.

The Committee also works actively to promote opportunities for colleagues to engage in conferences, seminars and professional networks, and ensures equitable access by coordinating financial support for participation.

SIME contributes significantly to School‑wide reputation‑building activities and PRME accreditation, reinforcing LUMS’ standing in the global management education community.

A defining strength of SIME is its commitment to inclusivity. In presenting the award, the Dean highlighted how the Committee had ‘created a thriving environment that encourages innovation, scholarship and external engagement. Their work in developing networks, mentoring colleagues, promoting opportunities and enhancing the school’s reputation has had a significant and lasting impact, making the SIME Team highly deserving recipients of this award’.

Reflecting on the award, Professor Newton said: “I am incredibly proud of what the SIME community has achieved together. This award reflects the collective energy, creativity and commitment of colleagues across LUMS who have embraced the vision for a vibrant, inclusive and outward‑looking scholarship community. Thank you to everyone who has contributed, shared ideas, supported one another and helped SIME grow into the thriving space it is today.”
