A Cross-University scholarship seminar series: 'Enhancing Student Success'

SCiLAB (The Open University’s Scholarship Centre for the Faculty of Business and Law), in collaboration with Cardiff, Lancaster and Manchester Metropolitan Universities is delighted to invite you to a summer seminar series for 2025.

The theme for the series is ‘enhancing student success’, featuring presentations from like-minded colleagues with similar research areas across legal and business education.

We will be welcoming presenters from across all four Universities to speak about their exciting research and scholarship. Held via Microsoft Teams, each event will feature 15-minute presentations with questions and a group discussion at the end.

Bernadett Dunn

Open University

With over 15 years of experience in the higher education industry, I am an educator and change leader who is passionate about empowering learners and creating positive change in the education sector. As a Lecturer and Student Experience Manager at The Open University, I combine my MBA and research skills with my knowledge of the student lifecycle and the challenges and opportunities of online learning.

Fran Myers

Open University

I am a Lecturer in Management at the Department of People and Organisations (DPO), Faculty of Business and Law, where I am currently working on the Apprenticeships programme.

Kristen Reid

Open University

Kristen Reid is a Senior Lecturer in Work-Based Learning in the Department for Public Leadership and Social Enterprise. She is interested in the design and delivery of work-integrated learning in distance and online contexts, and the transformative nature of work-based learning. She serves as the Academic Lead for the university’s group on work experience.

Sarah Bloomfield

Open University

I am a Senior Lecturer in Work and Organisational Learning and the Qualification Lead for the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA) programme at The Open University. I joined the OU central academic team in 2021, having worked in Associate Lecturer and Practice Tutor roles for the University since 2009.
