Science, Health & Technology Careers Fair, November 2025
The Science, Health and Technology Careers Fair took place on 5th November, 2025 in the LICA Building. 45 exhibitors representing a range of industries and company size took part, with 500 students attending. The sectors represented included Engineering, Environment, Energy, Defence, Finance, Consulting, Data Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Teaching, Public Sector, Pharmaceuticals and Biomedical Life Sciences.
The organisations ranged from large recruiters such as JLR, BBC and Rolls Royce to companies co-located on campus - Peak Associates, Yordas and TBL Services, who proved very popular with students. Feedback from students was very positive, for example: “I had the opportunity to talk to various different companies, with the smaller ones often sending speakers who had high relevancy and great understanding.” Another attendee noted how “Employers actually took names in person, which was great and very surprising. Applying is all done online at the moment, which feels alienating, so this was a great change”.
The employers included some who have attended the event year after year, as well as new organisations attending for the first time, with an increase in representation from the Health and Biomedical Life Sciences sectors.
The team also received very positive feedback from employers on their experience at the event and their interaction with our students, including “The students were exceptional” - Mac Clinical, exhibitor. Other exhibitors commented “Students were well engaged and had done their research about the companies as well” and “Friendly staff and students helping to run the event.”
The event was organised by Rachael Sterrett, Student Engagement Officer, FST supported by Pam Pickles, Sarah Mills, Synne Darwell, Amanda Ross, Leah Stride, Andy Currington and Jane Hunter.
On the day there was a large team of people involved in staffing the event, including Student Ambassadors, Partnership and Business Engagement staff from FST and FHM, Security and Facilities staff. This co-ordinated team approach enabled the event to run very smoothly and ensured a great experience for employers, students and staff.
