Dr Edward Austin
Research Fellow - AI4MEResearch Overview
I am a research fellow at Lancaster University. I currently lead projects on the use, and security, of agentic-AI.
I also lead research in:
1. AI Security
2. Data-Driven Cybersecurity
3. Data-driven mathematical modelling.
I lead, or co-lead, a range of research projects with partners ranging from BT, KPMG, the BBC, and the UK Government.
I have a track record for research impact with one of my methods currently deployed across the UK’s national telecommunications infrastructure, and I have authored code now used within BT’s operations. I currently lead a team of 5 PhDs, 3 MSci students, and 2 postdocs.
Current Teaching
I am leading the development and delivery of a cyberanalytics module for 3rd year computer science students.
I am currently involved in supervising students at undergraduate and masters level on several projects in areas including cyber security and networks research.
My previous teaching experience includes tutoring undergraduates and postgraduates on a range of mathematical topics, from calculus and linear algebra, to probability and statistics.
PhD Supervision Interests
If you have an interest in PhD topics linked to any of my three research interests, or the interests of the network and systems group I work in, please reach out and I will do my best to explore opportunities for obtaining funding for you.
