The life of a Marketing student

Khandi stood next to the Lancaster Canal.

Hi, my name is Khandi, and I'm in my 2nd year at Lancaster University. If I had to describe my university experience so far in one word, it would be "frantic"! However, a saving grace has been how much more organised I've become, resulting in a significant improvement in my grades during my second year. I make it a point to choose a different seat every hour, whether it's in the Management School West Pavilion floors, the Library, or the Learning Zone.

Although I'm studying Marketing, I found the Marketing Simulation module to be the most challenging, while the Qualitative Marketing module was the easiest for me, mostly due to the style of teaching. I've been assessed through a lot of multiple-choice questions, and this has given me the confidence to improve my presentation skills.

Career Advice

There's so much support available for your career, so just go for it! There are weekly career appointment sessions, specialised classes with a lovely lecturer who provides CV and career advice, and amazing summer school opportunities in France, Italy, and the USA, which I did consider.

Being an executive member of the Marketing Society and a frequent member of the Jewish Society has helped me feel more balanced and take a break from all my studies. These skills were instrumental in helping me secure my internship for the summer.

Welcome to Lancaster Life!

Yugo Accommodation is the best because it's only one minute away from Sainsbury's, and it's located opposite the bus station, which is especially useful when you have a 9 am lecture. You can have an extra 10-minute lie-in! I am considering living there next year as well, because the staff are always wonderful, and there are often opportunities to win prizes.

My tips

In conclusion, if you need any help with your studies at LUMS, don't hesitate to talk to the department as they are incredibly supportive, and attending office hours can significantly boost your grades. But it's also essential to take some time to relax and enjoy Lancaster as a whole. University can be stressful, but it's also an incredible experience that shouldn't be missed. So make the most of your time here, and don't forget to have some fun along the way!
