More than thirty Lancaster students have undertaken a study trip to New York and Boston, where they gained real-world insight into the commercial workings of big business.

The students, some studying Entrepreneurship and some PPR, visited major tech companies such as Dyn and Acquia during the trip, which was organised by Lancaster University Management School’s Magnus George as part of the University’s new Your Global Exploration initiative.

The students met with senior executives from the companies who spoke about their corporate strategies in the current global market.

Mr George said: “It was a privilege to get ‘behind the scenes’ of big internet-performance businesses like Dyn and global chemicals businesses like Kaneka.

“It was great that the undergraduates were able to hear from the people who make things happen. They came away better equipped for their own careers in the future; learning the importance of networking, for example.”

The group was also able to enjoy some sightseeing in New York and Boston, with the trip concluding with a Lancaster alumni event in the Manhattan office of Covington & Burling, a major US law firm.

The study trip was funded in part by Santander Universities (UK).
