The world-leading International Journal of Operations & Production Management (IJOPM) has been given a new academic home within Lancaster University.

The journal has moved across the world to now sit within Lancaster University Management School’s (LUMS) department of Management Science, after one of the journal’s editors, Professor Constantin Blome, took up the role of Academic Dean at Lancaster University Leipzig in Germany, and became an affiliated member of the LUMS department.

IJOPM’s mission is to publish leading-edge, innovative research that has the potential to significantly advance the field of Operations and Supply Chain Management, both theoretically and in practice.

Professor Constantin Blome said: “The IJOPM team is excited by the journal’s new academic home and hopes to inspire and to be inspired by the stimulating environment provided by Lancaster University.

“Lancaster academics have a long, successful tradition of publishing in IJOPM with Professor Mark Stevenson, Professor Linda Hendry, Dr Kostas Selviaridis and Professor Martin Spring among the journal’s top contributors.

“It is fantastic to see new generation scholars such as Dr Yiyi Fan also providing such valuable contributions which gives hope that its quality publications will indeed continue for years to come.”

Professor Linda Hendry, Head of Department for Management Science, said: “IJOPM is widely considered as one of the leading journals in the operations and supply chain management field, so the department – and indeed the wider LUMS community - is delighted to see it come to Lancaster under Professor Blome’s successful editorship.”

IJOPM’s ‘impact factor’ increased to 9.360 in 2021. The journal has also been innovative in introducing a new category of manuscripts that specifically focus on impact in industry and policy (so called Impact Pathways) which have already been replicated in further leading journals.

Amongst IJOPM’s recent ‘most downloaded’ articles include papers on digital orientation and digital intensity in digital transformation settings; socially responsible operations in the Industry 4.0 era (co-authored by Professor Mark Stevenson), and mitigating personal protective equipment (PPE) supply chain disruptions in pandemics.

The journal is published by Emerald and currently edited by Professor Constantin Blome (Lancaster University Leipzig), Robert Klassen (Western University, Canada) and Tobias Schoenherr (Michigan State University). Editorial assistant of the journal is Professor Martin Schleper (University of Sussex).
