Management School celebrates student success stories

Students celebrate with their certificates

Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) recognised the achievements of students from across its programmes at the inaugural Undergraduate Awards Evening.

Prizes recognising the accomplishments and contributions of 35 students during the 2025/26 academic year were presented by LUMS Dean Professor Claire Leitch at a special ceremony in the Management School.

Winners of the Students of the Year, Academic Engagement, Emerging Talent, Community Champion, Best Team Player, Leadership and Professional Impact, and Inspiring Journey categories, were all in attendance to receive their awards.

Professor Leitch said: “It was a pleasure to celebrate the achievements of so many of our undergraduate students and recognise the many ways in which they contribute to our school.

“The awards celebrate the individuals who help make LUMS such a great place to study and work, and recognise their talent, commitment and contributions.

“Congratulations to all our prize recipients. They should be very proud of what they have achieved.”

The six Students of the Year were selected for their all-round excellence across their studies.

The staff-voted Academic Engagement category rewards exceptional academic performance or intellectual growth and celebrates students who have demonstrated a real commitment to their learning.

The Emerging Talent winners are all current year first-year students, who have demonstrated great promise and potential in start of their studies at Lancaster.

LUMS Community Champions are students who have helped build a strong, supportive and inclusive community within the School.

The Best Team Player award went to the student who has excelled in collaboration, teamwork and supporting those around them.

The Leadership and Professional Impact award celebrates students who have demonstrated leadership, initiative and professional impact through their studies, placements, internships or wider activities.

And the Inspiring Journey prizes recognise students whose actions, attitudes or personal journeys have inspired others.

Event organiser, Dr Wendy Beekes, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Finance, said: “University is about so much more than academic achievement. It is about supporting one another, working as a team, showing leadership, overcoming challenges and making a positive difference to the community around us.

“These awards celebrate each of these areas and showcase the community spirit that makes such a difference to the student experience here in LUMS.

“We hope this will become a valued annual tradition, giving us the chance to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our undergraduate community for many years to come.”
