Dr Patricia Boyallian

Lecturer in Corporate Finance

Profile

My primary research interest is in empirical corporate finance and financial institutions. I am particularly interested in examining how executive compensation structures influence managerial risk-taking and how alternative governance arrangements affect firm performance and innovation. My research has explored the role of executive pay, boards of directors and board diversity in shaping corporate decision-making and innovative outcomes. I also conduct research at the intersection of corporate finance and innovation with a particular focus on the life sciences sector. Other areas of interest include banking supervision, institutional ownership, shareholder activism and the dynamics of the supervisory directors’ labour market.
