Research Overview

Vanessa is a PhD candidate in Economics. Her research interests lie in development economics, with a focus on gender and child welfare in sub-Saharan Africa. Leveraging the tools of applied microeconomics and causal inference, she investigates how large-scale shocks and interventions shape the long-run outcomes of women and children in the region.

Prior to her doctoral studies, she worked as a Health Economics Research Assistant at the Kumasi Center for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine and as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Economics at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. She has also served as an Economics Statistician with the Ghana Statistical Service.
