Systematic literature review about Community-Based Entrepreneurship and Place.

This study seeks to examine the conceptualization, fragmentation, and theorization of place within the field of community-based entrepreneurship (CBE). The significance of ‘place’ is often acknowledged in CBE discussions. But it is often shallow, lacking in critical analysis. This review is designed to fill that void by examining the impact of place in relation to CBE, analyzing it as a set of six aggregated dimensions. Adopting an integrative review, this study analyses 41 peer-reviewed articles on CBE to explore the ways and extent to which place is considered within those articles. The research indicates that although major factors are addressed in the CBE literature, they are treated as isolated factors rather than as integrated dimensions of place. The review notes the lack of interdisciplinary collaboration and inadequate theorization of place as a dynamic and relational entity. This paper is the first to systematically analyze CBE with a focused place-based perspective, presenting an innovative approach for comprehending CBE-place relations. It provides a conceptual framework and an actionable plan for future studies for those who wish to utilize entrepreneurship for place-making and community improvement.
