Adam Lord
PhD studentResearch Overview
My research is centred on disillusionment, particularly with work. Empirically, I am focussed on graduates (of the ‘Gen Z’ cohort) who attempt to escape work at the very moment they are supposed to realise themselves within it. My approach to this current moment is informed by the historical tension between attempts to collectively take control of the world, and attempts to individually escape the world, which is reflected in the tension between Marxist and Nihilistic philosophies. Therefore, my research aims to bring contemporary notions of workplace disillusionment within critical management studies into dialogue with this general undercurrent of capitalism.
