Research Overview

Dr Stefan Kupfer is Assistant Professor in Accounting at Lancaster University Leipzig. Previously, he was guest researcher at NTNU in Norway and Postdoc at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg, where he obtained his PhD. His research focuses on accounting and finance, sustainability, and strategic decision-making under uncertainty (real options). He studies how businesses use flexibility to invest optimally, signal performance to stakeholders, manage competition, structure contracts, or achieve sustainability goals.Dr Stefan Kupfer publishes in top journals (e.g. EJOR), presents at major conferences, gave a TED Talk at the Real Options Conference and was invited to the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings.
