The Faculty of Science and Technology holds four top ten subject areas in the Guardian University League Table 2020, with Physics ranked 2nd, Chemistry ranked 5th, Psychology ranked 6th, and Geography and Environmental Sciences ranked 7th.

The Guardian University League Table ranks universities according to: course satisfaction; teaching quality; feedback; staff-student ratio; spend per student; average entry tariff; a value-added score that compares students’ degree results with their entry qualifications; career after six month and continuation rate.

The Faculty’s notable achievements include:

• Physics soars 5 places to rank 2nd nationally
• Chemistry rises 6 places to rank 5th nationally
• Psychology soars 16 places to rank 6th nationally

Professor Peter Atkinson, Dean for the Faculty of Science and Technology at Lancaster University, said: “I am delighted with another set of outstanding outcomes for the Faculty of Science and Technology.

“These results demonstrate the notably high quality of teaching and learning across all of our Science and Technology subjects, with our Faculty proving to continue to be highly attractive to prospective students."

The latest tables build on the recent successes in The Complete University Guide 2020, which saw the Faculty of Science and Technology hold five top ten subject areas nationally, and the University rising one place to seventh, its highest ever national ranking in this table.

Lancaster University has climbed to joint seventh in the Guardian University League Table 2020, confirming its place as one of the UK’s leading institutions.

In the new tables, published on Friday, June 7 2019, Lancaster is ranked as joint seventh in the country, and maintains its top ten ranking across all three major UK league tables.
