Environmental science is an interdisciplinary field that explores the interactions between the physical, chemical, and biological components of the environment. Our aim is to understand how natural systems function, how human activity affects these systems, and how we can mitigate or adapt to environmental challenges. The Environmental Science Research Group brings together experts from a range of key disciplines to investigate individual components of the Earth system and their interactions. We explore fundamental processes affecting the environment, from the microscopic to global scale, through fieldwork, laboratory experiments, and computational modelling. Our research encompasses:
