This is the third NW Branch ‘research symposium’ that is part of our drive to break down the misconceptions and barriers between Project Management researchers and practitioners.

Our intention is to open discussions between researchers looking for useful topics to research and practitioners facing real issues in the workplace, who could be helped by some applied research. There will also be a showcase of successful exemplars of academic-practice interaction and an introduction to the development of the new edition of the APM Body of Knowledge in a field rife with tensions between research and practice.

This interactive event will include a number of short presentations by researchers and practitioners followed by a panel discussion. The evening will be hosted by Lancaster University Management School and will mark the re-launch of the National Centre for Project Management (NCPM) at Lancaster University. NCPM fosters active dialogue about the integration of successful practice and theoretical research within project management and is delighted to collaborate with APM and the wider project community.

The Symposium seeks to provide a platform for:

  1. Academics – to present their research, meet other academics and practitioners and discuss the latest thinking in the area;
  2. Practitioners – to engage with exciting research projects, meet academics and other practitioners and share issues which seek a solution and
  3. Students – to engage with academics and practitioners and grow their network.

The event is free to attend and open to individuals and organisations of all sizes and backgrounds, and with any level of experience.

Previous presentations and webinars can be viewed on the APM Slideshare and YouTube channels. Follow @APMEvents for upcoming event information.

Please bring your top three issues facing you and your organisation with you as these will be covered as part of the event.
