CCI Special Session: Cost of Living Crisis
In this CCI Special Session, we explore how the Cost-of-Living crisis provides an important socio-political backdrop to consumption, markets, and marketing.
Many consumers see the rising prices of energy, food, household essentials, and media as a greater global threat to societal well-being than even war, resource depletion, terrorism and the climate crisis. According to the ONS, approximately two-thirds (67%) of adults in the UK are spending less on non-essentials because of the rising cost of living.
Join us for this special session as we discuss the turbulent supply and demand side dynamics that have, since 2000, caused prices to soar and the longer-tail effects of a culture of austerity which have never been meaningfully reversed.
In this roundtable, we will be inviting UG and PG student attendees to share their personal consumption-related experiences and sacrifices, and to reflect on the role of brands, marketing, and service providers during the Cost-of-Living crisis.
All are welcome to attend! Please come and share your thoughts!
