A day in the life of an MSc Finance student

Peace smiling at the camera

Hey there! While it looks like the Lent term is a marathon race without a pause, I thought I'd let you in on what a typical day in my life as a finance student here at LUMS looks like.

Morning

My day would usually start with my prayers and a light breakfast of sandwich, a bowl of cereal or smoothie to keep me energized during the day.

Afterwards, I would head to class. Usually all classes are in 2-hour blocks, but not to worry, we usually have a 10-minute break in-between, which makes the class really enjoyable.

Then, I had a work shift, and so I had to rush down for a 1-hour shift right after class.

Afternoon

After the shift, there was a careers event where EY, one of the big 4 accounting firms, came to campus to talk to students. I attended that, and trust me, it was insightful.

I had a quick team meeting afterwards at the learning pod, where my team mates and I were meeting to work on a part of our coursework for the semester.

Usually, in the Lent term, most courses on the MSc Finance programme have coursework; the goal of this is to develop requisite industry-specific skills such as teamwork.

The learning pod is close to the library and major restaurants on campus like Deli and Pizzetta. After my team meeting, I grabbed a quick lunch of chicken and chips at Pizzetta.

Evening

I ended the day with essential grocery shopping at Aldi, a 20-minute distance from campus by bus. Depending on how long you plan to use your groceries, this particular grocery shopping was for about a 2-week period till the end of the month and so I spent between 10-15 pounds.

Thank you for coming with me today and I hope you enjoyed the ride.
