A day in the life of Business Analytics student at LUMS
Posted on

My name is Sonya Pasricha, and I am currently a second-year student pursuing a degree in Business Analytics at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS). After completing my A levels in Malaysia, I chose LUMS for its reputation for academic excellence and state-of-the-art facilities. Today, I would like to share with you what a typical day in my life as a Business Analytics student at LUMS looks like.
At Lancaster, the Business Analytics program is designed to give students a solid foundation in business principles, mathematics, statistics, and computer science. The curriculum is tailored to prepare students for careers in industries such as finance, consulting, marketing, and technology.
A typical day
My day usually begins with an engaging lecture or seminar that provides me with a theoretical understanding of the concepts while helping me to apply them to real-world problems. The professors at LUMS are experts in their field, and their passion for teaching makes the learning experience truly remarkable. The class discussions and group projects have allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
After my morning classes, I usually head to the LUMS building, where I spend most of my time working on individual or group projects. The LUMS building offers a variety of study spaces, including group study rooms, individual study spaces, and open spaces. I often collaborate with my classmates to complete assignments and group projects, and the LUMS building provides the perfect setting for that.
In addition to my academic pursuits, I am also actively involved in various university activities. As a LUMS Student Ambassador, faculty rep, welcome rep, senate representative, and student education panelist, I take on different roles that allow me to contribute to the LUMS community and voice student concerns. These roles have not only helped me to grow as an individual but have also allowed me to contribute to the betterment of my university community.
In my free time, I enjoy going to the Sports Centre to stay active and healthy. The Sports Centre offers amazing facilities, including a state-of-the-art gym, swimming pool, indoor and outdoor courts, and a track. I particularly enjoy playing basketball and badminton with my friends at the centre. Engaging in sports not only helps me stay physically fit but also provides a much-needed break from academic work. The Sports Centre is a great place to socialise and meet new people, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay active while at university.
Studying at LUMS has been an incredible experience for me. The combination of academic rigour, excellent facilities, and a vibrant student community has made my time at LUMS both productive and enjoyable. Thank you for reading, and I hope this has given you a glimpse into a day in the life of a Business Analytics student at LUMS.
