My first term at LUMS: Steffin Shibu

Abroad education like many has been my dream since the early days of my life. Choosing a good university to invest in is a crucial task. With the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the decision was an even tougher one and I am glad that I chose Lancaster University for my Masters.
From the offer letter acceptance to successfully being led into their friendly accommodation, University support has been with me and even beyond when it comes to the increasing fear of coronavirus. Ranging from picking us up from the airport/railway station to providing us with a refund for the PCR-testing, the university does it all to make the students feel settled in well and be a part of the bigger community. The collegiate system is to make us feel included and interact with people all around the globe, while also enjoying the facilities of the games room, social hub, quiet study spaces and more. Being part of the Graduate College, the only college which has postgraduates has been a journey of its own and the porters play a vital role in it.
MiM Cohort of 2022 is a well-balanced class with the university doing its best to select talents from across the globe and putting it together. With 4 modules already completed in term 1, I have already been challenged intellectually while also learning in a non-stressful and nurturing environment. MiM Lounge and Roundtable has interacted with a dozen of alumni and several CEOs and COOs who have now become our LinkedIn connections which surely helps during our job hunts or establishing a new business. The class atmosphere is friendly with lecturers being there to jump through all the blocks and the batchmates being the best in social interactions. The batch has had events such as the Christmas Ball, which is surely one of the best nights ever spent.
Everyone dreams of an amazing abroad experience, with wonderful flatmates, college-mates, and classmates. The cherry on the top is the well-experienced careers team at university who not only make sure that we get notifications of all the available jobs and sort all the materials for us but also are available to guide us on a one-to-one basis which gives a personalized. Thus, I have received whatever I was looking for in my masters at Lancaster University in just term 1 and I am really excited to see what the future has in store for me.
