The summer break promises exciting adventures and new opportunities for prospective students. As an MSc Marketing student immersed in a company-commissioned dissertation, I know firsthand the significance of blending productivity with enjoyable experiences during this time. Join me as I delve into the journey of striking the perfect balance between academic achievements, end-of-year activities, and future career prospects.

Dissertation Progress and Planning

The summer break may be a time for relaxation, but for us MSc Marketing students, it is also an opportunity to make significant progress on our dissertations. Our days are spent researching, analysing data, and constructing persuasive arguments. However, we have learned that maintaining a healthy work-life balance is crucial for staying motivated and making consistent progress.

In addition to the intense research and analysis, we engage in regular planning sessions to ensure our dissertation projects stay on track. These collaborative discussions enable us to share findings, brainstorm ideas, and seek valuable feedback from our supervisor. By staying organized and setting realistic goals, we effectively manage our time and optimise our productivity.

End-of-Year Activities

While our dissertations demand our attention, we also recognize the importance of embracing the vibrant social life that comes with the end of the academic year. We eagerly participate in thrilling events like Extravs and end-of-year parties, immersing ourselves in the joyous atmosphere. From delightful barbecues to unforgettable nights out and bar crawling, we create memories that will be cherished long after our studies conclude.

Looking Ahead and Job Prospects

Even as we work on our dissertations, our eyes are set on the future. As an MSc Marketing student, I am enthusiastic about securing a job that aligns with my career aspirations. Throughout the summer break, I research potential job opportunities and meticulously tailor my applications to stand out. Obtaining a postgraduate work visa is a key objective, as it allows me to work in this dynamic field for two years after completing my studies.

While landing interviews and securing a job is a top priority, I believe in making the journey as enjoyable as the destination. Summer offers networking events, career fairs, and industry conferences, where I can expand my professional connections and gain valuable insights into the marketing industry. It's an exciting time of exploration and growth as I shape my future career path.
