MSc OR student project impresses Boehringer-Ingelheim UK

20 April 2015

MSc Operational Research and Management Science student Mengjia Chen completed a successful summer project with top pharmaceutical company Boehringer-Ingelheim, leading directly to the offer of a job.

Mengjia, who graduated from Lancaster in 2013, spent several months at Boehringer-Ingelheim's factory in order to measure the impact of a new sales force structure. Her work demonstrated that the new structure was delivering improved results and has proved instrumental in showing the effectiveness of the new system.

Boehringer-Ingelheim offered Mengjia a job as a result of her work on the project. She now works for their Business Analytics team. She said: "I have been impressed by the friendliness of people here. The daily work is challenging, but in a good way... it stays interesting and demanding!"

Raj Nagra, Business Analytics Manager at Boehringer, said: "Mengjia has settled well into a very fast-paced and pressured environment. Her attention to detail and the accuracy in her work has aided some key decision making."
