MBA students on Lake Windermere

The new Full-time and Executive MBA classes faced their first challenge mid-way through their induction week. Following two days of introductions to Lancaster, leadership, learning and reflection, the class moved from the comfort of the lecture theatre to an outdoor activity centre in the beautiful Lake District.

The purpose of the day was to explore and understand the kind of teamwork that will enable them to be highly successful, both on the MBA programme and in their future careers.

‘Having an environment as stunning as the Lake District only 40 minutes drive away is a great advantage for the Lancaster MBA,’ said Chris Saunders, Full-time MBA Director. ‘We use this several times a year to challenge our students to think really deeply about themselves and their future. Our location really helps our MBAs to learn and grow as leaders during the programme.’

The students engaged in a number of challenging activities, and then reflected on their performance with a learning mentor to ensure that their understanding of successful teamwork was captured.

One group summed up this learning in four words: cooperation, collaboration, courage, compassion.
