29 November 2016

The OMEGA RHO International Honor Society for operations research, management science, and related areas has celebrated its 40th anniversary at a recent event in Nashville, Tennessee.

The plenary meeting at the Annual Meeting of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences featured a 40th Anniversary Panel, chaired by Graham Rand, former Omega Rho president, who has recently retired from the Department of Management Science in LUMS.

Four of Omega Rho's distinguished lecturers, Alfred Blumstein, John Birge, John D.C. Little, and Ralph Keeney, all revisited lecture topics from previous years.

The society was founded in the spring of 1976 at a joint national meeting of the Operations Research Society of America and The Institute of Management Sciences and is a Member Society of the Association of College Honor Societies for maintaining high standards for the recognition and promotion of academic excellence in higher education.
