Management School undergraduates thinking about studying abroad next year could receive a financial award to help them.

Fifteen LUMS Study Abroad Scholarships, each valued at £1,000 for the coming academic year, are designed to help with travel costs or additional living expenses.

The scholarships, which are only available to UK students studying abroad for either a term or a whole year in 2016/17, are competitive and awarded by departments.

Eligible students will be considered for the award automatically, but your department will consider your academic performance, as well as the standard of your study abroad application.

If you are successful, you will receive the money after 31st October 2016, once you have arrived overseas.

Every year, around 50 LUMS students go to study overseas at partner institutions all over the world. Last year, students went to a variety of countries including Australia, the USA, Canada, New Zealand, Austria, Germany, Hong Kong and Thailand.

Lisa Gerraty, from the LUMS International Office, said: “Studying abroad is such a fantastic opportunity to broaden your horizons both academically and culturally. It really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and we encourage as many students to embark on this adventure as possible.

“We have increased the value of each scholarship for 2016/17 to £1,000 and hope this financial boost will encourage more students to apply to the scheme.”

For more information, contact Lisa Gerraty or speak to her face-to-face at the drop-in session every Wednesday during term time from 1-2:30pm outside the Bloomberg Room.
