Centre for Transport and Logistics organises workshop at UN in Bangkok

The Southeast Asia region is prone to natural disaster such as flooding, volcano eruption, earthquake, and tsunami. These disasters have dramatic environmental, social and economic impacts, and A rising death toll.

Bringing together key government officials and NGOs from the Southeast Asia region as well as key experts from the United Nations (UN) agencies, the workshop on AIDE-Response will discuss the potential impact and adoption of the research performed within the framework of the ORDER (Achieving Operational Excellence in Disaster Management and Emergency Response) Project.

Professor Konstantinos G. Zografos (P.I of the ORDER project, Director of CENTRAL) will discuss Operational Research models for optimizing emergency response logistics decisions. Professor Juliana Sutanto (Co.I of the ORDER project, Member of CENTRAL and Director of Connected Communities Research Lab) will discuss how ICT enabled disaster management can improve the performance of organizations involved in disaster management.

The workshop will explore ways for accelerating the take up of the ORDER project results, and will co-create a roadmap for implementation that will accelerate the project’s impact.
