How to make travel smoother and less stressful

Gatwick Airport and EasyJet have started a trial to board passengers onto planes in a new way, in an attempt to make the process smoother.

Dr Burak Boyaci, from Lancaster University Management School’s Centre for Transport and Logistics (CENTRAL) spoke to Guardian journalist Paula Cocozza to offer more potential methods to improve travel efficiency.

They looked at variable speed limits on motorways, compulsory walking on escalators and varying boarding patterns for planes to take into account the need to stow hand baggage.
