Throughout September, and liaising with the LUMS Student Recruitment Team, LUMS Accountancy Career Coach - Tanya Parry and Financial Career Coach - Paul McCormick ran virtual career webinars to incoming UG and PG students – a unique offer within the UK university sector.

The sessions immediately made incoming first-year students aware of the Spring Week (mini internships) opportunities and facilitate applications in late September / early October as required.

Incoming UG Accounting and Finance student Joe Gammon said “I never knew the ‘Spring Week World’ existed. I’m delighted and excited to really get on top of this straight away. Thank you LUMS.”

PG students benefit from getting an early glimpse of the UK financial landscape and get an early understanding of what it takes to get hired in the UK.

PG MSc Finance student Ranjhana Venkataraman said “I had no idea I could access LUMS career services in the summer before I arrived in Lancaster. I really feel I have a ‘head start' in my goal to secure UK financial service employment.”

For Tanya and Paul, establishing early ‘career relationships’ with such students really allows them to assist students in developing their internship and job-hunting knowledge and capabilities.
