Professor John Boylan, Director of the Centre for Marketing Analytics and Forecasting at LUMS, together with his colleague Professor Aris Syntetos (Cardiff University) have recently published a book “Intermittent Demand Forecasting” (Wiley). This is the first book that unites forecasting and inventory management, closing the gap between theory and practice in this area. It emphasises intermittent demand items (spare parts and slow-moving stock) which are at the highest risk of obsolescence, whilst also presenting the biggest opportunities for financial and environmental benefits. The motivation for the book is summarised in this short promotional video:

The book is already available on the Wiley website.
